How to Join

All students are welcome to join the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, regardless of year or transfer status. Review the membership requirements (listed below) and evaluate the journal's Team Descriptions to get a sense of what your ideal role in BTLJ might be. To join, please attend and sign up at the introductory meetings at the beginning of each semester.

Membership Requirements

  1. Twenty hours of work per semester.*
  2. Twenty-five dollars in dues per semester.
  3. Attend Bluebook training session (new members only).
  4. Attend one of the two cite-checking parties each semester.**
  5. Check your e-mail for latest happenings and announcements.

* 10 of the 20 hours must come from work assigned by your team leader. Work for your team leader is your first priority. The other ten can be general work for any team or editor. All hours must be logged on time sheets located in the binder in the BTLJ office. Associate Editors must complete a total of 30 hours per semester and 20 of the 30 must come from work assigned by your team leader.

** Hours logged at a cite-checking party may be counted as part of your 10 hour article team requirement. If you are assigned to a non-article team during the semester, you still must attend a cite-checking party.
